Pembuatan dan Evaluasi Mikrokapsul Ekstrak Cacing Tanah Lumbricus rubellus Dengan Metode Emulsifikasi Ganda Penguapan Pelarut Menggunakan Polimer Eudragit

Abstract

A research on the formulation and evaluation of microcapsules extract earthworms Lumbricus rubellus with double emulsification solvent evaporation method has been done. This study aims to obtain microcapsules extract earthworms Lumbricus rubellus with excellent physical characteristics and cover the typical smell of earthworms. In this study, three formulations of microcapsules containing the ratio of active substance: polymers (1: 1) were made. The microcapsules were fabricated using a variety of Eudragit® polymers, namely Eudragit® RS (F1), Eudragit® RL (F2), and combinations of Eudragit® RS and Eudragit® RL (F3). The microcapsules are evaluated for the morphology and particle size distribution using Electron Scanning Microscope (SEM) as well as the evaluation of protein content and encapsulation efficiency. The results revealed that the morphology of all microcapsules formula has spherical shaped with an average diameter14,3µm (F1); 3,4µm (F2) and 3µm (F3), respectively. Average protein content of each formula is 8,825±0,2 %b/b (F1), 11,658±0,4 %b/b (F2), 11,038±0,04 %b/b (F3) with the encapsulation efficiency 25,532% (F1); 47,105% (F2) dan 29,556% (F3) respectively. Based on the results of this study concluded, that the microcapsules F2 using Eudragit® RL as a polymer coating has the excellent physical characteristics.
