Identifikasi dan Eksplorasi Etnomedisina pada Suku Samin di Kabupaten Bojonegoro, Jawa Timur

Abstract

Indonesia is a country which is rich in natural resource, that can be used as traditional medicine. The number of treatments is lost due to verbal and empirical teaching method leading to the development of ethnomedicine in Indonesia. Traditional medicine refers to the traditional tribe. One of the ethnic groups or tribes in Indonesia is Samin tribe, which still uses traditional medicine or method such as medicine from plants, animals, and other materials that can be developed for modern medicine. This research is aimed to identify and explore the plants, animals, and other materials used by Samin tribe as traditional medicine. The study done by completing with 40 respondents and the result obtained interviews by quisioner, the result obtained is an inventory of plants, animals, funds other materials used for traditional medicine by the Samin tribe. The results of this concluded that the use of traditional medicine by Samin tribe, 19 types of disease with 21 kinds of plant, 4 kinds of animal and 4 kinds of natural mineral that are used as treatment. The materials used as ingredients by Samin tribe have mostly been studied and have medicinal properties, so the prospect has to be developed as raw materials for traditional medicine is promising. Samin people process plants, animals, and other minerals as traditional medicine in a simple way, including crush a mixture of several materials or a single material, squeeze, or boil it then directly drink or consume or nub the medicine to body parts which get sore.
