Total Flavonoids Contain of Leaves of Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota L.)

Abstract

Sapodilla (Manilkara zapota L.) is one of herbs which traditionally efficacious for treatment bleeding, wound, ulcers and fever. The leaves were rich of flavonoids and saponins. The aim of this research to determine the total flavonoid contain in ethanol extract of leaves of M. zapota by spectrophotometry. The leaves were extracted by reflux method using 70% ethanol with variation of acid (HCl and CH3COOH). The results showed that the addition of CH3COOH show the highest flavonoid contant (14,52%) compared to HCl was 8,35%.
