Formulation and Characterization of Self Nano Emulsion Drug Delivery System Rice Bran Oil
Abstract
Rice bran oil is hydrophobic agent contains antioxidant compounds such as oryzanol, tocopherol, tocotrienols which can against free radicals in the body, but it difficult to dissolve in the digestive tract so a delivery system is needed such as the SNEDDS (Self Nano emulsion Drug Delivery System) can improved the solubility and oral bioavailability of rice bran oil. Rice bran oil was extracted by soxhlation method using n-hexane solvent. This study aims to formulate and know the characteristics of SNEDDS rice bran oil such as transmittance, emulsification time, observation of size and particle size distribution. The results of the characterization of the 3 formulas produced dispersions with the average transmittance value ranges from 35.23-47.62% and showed an emulsification time less than 1 minute, has a particle size less than 100 nm which is obtained by the droplet size in formula 1 is 22.3 nm, formula 2 is 22.9 nm and formula 3 is 24.4 nm and shows the uniformity of droplet size and distribution because it has a value of polydispersity index (PI) of nano emulsion droplets less than 1.
